Nope. Neither a monster truck, nor a monster, nor a truck is needed to reach Young from either direction - regular sedans and even two-wheeled rides are often seen here. HOWEVER, the more ground clearance and tire tread you have, the better (and faster) your drive on the unpaved roads will be. Make sure your spare tire is in good shape and inflated. Know basic mountain driving practices. Wet and winter weather call for extra caution.
